Heartfelt Hello Card Kit Tutorial
Rainbow stripes are always on trend and are guaranteed to put a smile on someone's face. Send a little heartfelt hello with this cute (and easy to make) card kit.
This card can be assembled in 20 minutes or less. Instructions below assume that you are assembling the card using the kit that is available in my Etsy store.
Materials
- Heartfelt Hello Card Kit
- Your kit should contain the following:
- 1 white card, folded
- envelope
- 1 heart cutout panel
- 1 heart
- 5 colored cardstock strips
- 1 die cut hello sentiment
- foam adhesive squares
- crystal adhesive gems
- *You will also need adhesive, scissors and a pair of tweezers for this project
Tools
- Adhesive - dry, roll-type works best
- Tweezers
- Scissors
Instructions
- Lay out your pieces
- Place the heart cutout inside the heart cutout panel - Set the heart into the opening in the cutout panel and apply adhesive to the heart. DO NOT put adhesive on the cutout panel; only on the heart. Note: I used tearaway adhesive here, but you can use any paper craft adhesive.
- Arrange the colored cardstock strips in the order shown - Beginning at the top of your heart, lay the lighter pink strip over the heart. Make sure a little of the strip extends beyond the top edge of the heart. Add the remaining strips side by side until all 5 are stacked and cover the heart. The blue strip should extend a little past the bottom of the heart.
- Flip and trim - The colored cardstock strips are wider than the heart and will therefore extend past the edges of the punch out heart panel. For this reason you will need to trim a bit off of each side so that the ends are hidden. Only trim away as much as you need to hide the stripe ends. Do not trim from the top or bottom
- Add foam adhesive to cutout heart panel. Affix foam adhesive squares around the heart cutout as shown. Your striped panel should look like the image at left.
- Adhere your stripe panel to the cutout heart panel - Peel off the paper backing for the foam adhesive squares and with the stripe side down, press the striped panel in place. Apply adhesive to the back of the panel as shown. I’m using tearaway tape adhesive here, but any paper craft adhesive will work. This step is just to give a bit more adhesion between the panel and the card. Add 4 more foam adhesive squares to the corners of your layered panel as shown.
- Adhere the heart panel. Peel off the paper backing for the foam adhesive squares that are in each corner and press the panel in place on your card; centering it so that there is a 1/8 inch border all around.
- Add the die-cut hello - The die-cut hello has been turned into a sticker for you. Before you peel away the clear cellophane layer, gently rub with your fingers over the entire surface. Peel away the cellophane and then to apply, simply fold back the top half of the backing paper so you can press the die-cut onto the card. Then, gently peel away the paper from the lower half. Press the die-cut in place. Note: The die-cut is in somewhat fragile, but following the instructions above will make it easier to apply.
- Add the bling! - Finish up your card with a random sprinkling of adhesive gems. Use a pointed tweezers or an exacto knife tip to lift the gems from their plastic backing and set them in place. If you aren’t sure where to put them, refer to the image for suggestions.
